Mölndal, November 27, 2009 Arcam AB (publ), listed on the Nordic Growth Market in Stockholm, Sweden, introduces the Arcam A1, a new EBM system specifically developed for Additive Manufacturing of orthopedic implants.
Arcam’s new EBM system, Arcam A1, is designed to meet the implant industry’s need for cost-efficient production of complex implants, featuring for example advanced Trabecular Structures™. Arcam A1 replaces the Arcam EBM S12 system, the de facto industry standard for Additive Manufacturing in the orthopedic implant industry.
The orthopedic market is one of Arcam’s two main markets, with more than fifteen EBM systems installed for production. The predicted annual global market growth is approximately 10%, according to Knowledge Enterprises. This growth is driven partly by new products and treatment methods, and partly by new treatment criteria and geographical markets.
Arcam A1 is derived from Arcam’s experience of Additive Manufacturing of orthopedic implants. The system includes several new innovations that make it well suited for implant production, e.g. EBM MultiBeam, Arcam’s patented technology for finer surfaces and higher build speed.
